Following in the footsteps of his Father and Brother, Matt joined the Fire Service at age 14. His roots began and still grow from the East End Fire Company - Station 220 now incorporated into the Kulpmont Fire Department (KFD) where he climbed the ladder from the rank of Junior Firefighter to Chief of Department. While commanding the KFD, Matt was co-developer of the Cadet Training Program and receiving multiple fire service grants to upgrade equipment and apparatus. After two successful consecutive terms as Chief, Matt concluded his Chief Officer status with Kulpmont Fire Department on January 1, 2007. He is currently a Senior Firefighter /Paramedic with his home company.

Matt became an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and supplemented his EMT training by becoming a Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician. Furthering his education, Matt became a Nationally Registered Paramedic / Firefighter II and holds additional training certificates in the fire, rescue, emergency medical services and juvenile justice disciplines. Matt is also a National Fire Academy Alumnus.

Matt is the EMS Operations Manager Elysburg Fire Department & Emergency Medical Services. Additionally, he works part-time for AREA Services as a Staff Paramedic. He is also a member of the Overlook Fire Company, Coal Township Fire Department, and the Mount Carmel Area FOOLS (Fraternal Order of Leatherhead Society) where he holds the title of Trustee.

He enjoys camping, hunting, shooting, fishing, playing cards, cooking, remodeling and most importantly spending time with his family, friends and fiance', Amy. Matt especially enjoys spending time with his daughter, Sydney.

On October 16, 2004, Matts Father passed away. Since this time, Matt has dedicated all of his work as a Paramedic/Firefighter in the memory of his Father and has established a scholarship in his name dedicated to assisting individuals furthering their education in the public safety sector.
